Tournament Structure
Prizes will be awarded for the following categories:

  1. Generalship - Best victory point total for three games: first, second and third place will be recognized.
  2. Best Army - Best presented army, including painting of figures and vehicles, basing, and history.
  3. Best Platoon - Each player may nominate one platoon for best paint and basing. Players will vote for best platoon in secret ballot.

Tournament Scenarios

Round One
Fighting Withdrawal or Counter Attack - In round one, the Axis player decides which scenario will be played and must attack. Please review the Counter Attack mission here.

Round Two:
Cauldron or No Retreat  - In round two the Soviet player decides the scenario and must attack. Please review the No Retreat mission here.

Round Three
Breakthrough or Roadblock - In round three, the referees will add up the points of all players, to see which side overall, Axis or Soviet, is doing better. All players of that side will then have the ability to choose which scenario they would like to play. The side that chooses the scenario is automatically the Attacker.

Always Attack or Always Defend Forces
When a list defines the force as always Attacker or always Defender the list requirement supercedes the tournament rule.

Force Structures
No army may exceed 1750 points but may be less than 1750. All armies must be drawn from East Front or pdf for East Front. Experimental Support Platoons may be drawn from the Midwar Monsters book according to the limitations detailed below.

History Matters
Only forces and equipment used in July 1943 may be used. Equipment that does not become available until after Kursk is prohibited. Yes, I know we are using Midwar Monsters, but we are taking into account the fictional "combat histories" to determine what is available.

Mid-War Monsters
Select Experimental Support Platoons are allowed in this tournament, according to their combat "histories" as detailed in the Midwar Monsters book. The following are allowed:

  • Tiger P
  • Dicker Max Tank Hunter
  • Sturer Emil Tank Hunter
  • Panzer I F
  • KV-3 Heavy Tank
  • KV-5 Heavy Tank
  • T-43 Medium Tank

List Restrictions - German

  • The 'PanzerKompanie' list is not allowed. The other Tank lists (Mitillere, Czech, PantherKompanie, SchwerePanzer, etc) are fine.
  • Stugs can only be taken as an Assault Gun platoon option, and NOT as a Panzer Platoon option. (Stugs up to Kursk were only in the Artillery Regiments, not the Panzer Regiments.)
  • Panthers will only be allowed if taken as part of the PantherKompanie list.
  • 8.8cm FlaK18 Sfl are not allowed as they were all gone by July '43.

List Restrictions - Soviet

  • SU-85s, KV-85s and IS-85s are not allowed .

Tournament Limits and PReferences
We have a hard cap of 24 players. No more will fit in the store. You must receive an email confimation from Rob Smith to be considered registered for the tournament.

In addition, because there are fewer Soviet players, they will have preference up until we have 12 Soviet players.

Lists
Please submit your lists to Rob Smith by email by April 14th so that the Great Hall Games team will have time to go over them before starting the games. Send your list to rob@greathallgames.com.

Printed Lists
All players must bring printed copies of their lists and make these available to opponents upon request. Lists must include the complete stats of the units, their costs, and any special rules that apply to units or to the force. This must be the same list that tournament organizers approved.
