FOWFest Midwar
Queen of Battle
Tournament
July 31 , 2010
Last updated: July 11, 2010

what
In the "Queen of Battle" tournament our goal is to focus on the forces that did most of the fighting and dieing on all side, the infantry. For that reason we are reducing the points to 1250 to both discourage expensive weapons (like heavy tanks) and to keep the forces small, since it can take longer to fight an infantry battle to a conclusion. In addition, we are increasing the game duration to 3 hours, from the usual 2.5 hours. And finally, we are adding the Queen of Battle scenario rule, which limits teams that can contest or hold an objective to dismounted infantry teams only.

Regional Qualifier and Ranked Tournament
The FOW Fest 'Queen of Battle tournament' will be a regional qualifier for the 2010 - 2011 Flames of War National Tournament (assuming we have at least 12 players). It will also be ranked for national standings. For details about national rankings, click here.

Special Tournament Rule:
Queen of the Battlefield!

Even with the advent of the Blitzkrieg and sophisticated air and artillery support, infantry remained the "Queen of the Battlefield" in World War 2. In the end, it usually fell to the "poor bloody infantry" to seize and hold the objectives of the day. In honor of that fact and to promote some different sorts of forces, the following rule applies:

The rules for contesting an objective are:

  • Only infantry teams that are part of an infantry platoon may hold or contest an objective; 'infantry' means those that make an infantry save, like pioneers, sappers, infantry, command teams, etc.
  • All teams that are transported must be dismounted to hold or contest; this includes cavalry, motorcyclists, motorized, mechanized, and tank riding infantry platoons.

Infantry teams from non-infantry platoons cannot hold or contest; for example, command teams from gun platoons, tank platoons, etc. cannot hold or contest. Nor may tanko desantniki hold or contest (they are part of the tank company).

Bear this rule in mind while creating your force!
