Old Glory - Range includes Macedonians, Persians, and Indians.
Magister Militum - Range includes Greek Hoplites, Alexandrian Macedonians, Helenistic Successors, Indians, Thracians, Galatians, and Scythians.
This range of figures spans the rise of the Hoplite armies of the Greek city states, the armies of Alexander the Great and his successors, and ends with the domination of the Mediterranean world by Rome.
The Greek city states, particularly Athens and Sparta, begun this historical period with their remarkable victories against the Persian Empire, but then fell to internal struggle which left them vulnerable to the growing power of the Macedonian kingdom under the young Alexander the Great. Alexander would go on to invade Persia and conquer a vast empire that would stretch all the way to India. After his death, the various Successor States that were created after Alexander's most powerful generals divided his empire fought amongst themselves until the growing power of Rome ushered in a new era.
Alexander the Great's victory over the Persians at the Battle of Gaugamela in 331 BCE stands as one of the great battles of this period.
