Biblical armies stretch from the early civilizations of Mesopotamia to the rise of the Greek city-states by the 5th Century BCE.
The Assyrians of Mesopotamia, the New Kingdom of Egypt, and the Hittites of Asia Minor were the dominate powers of the period. The growing power of the Myceneans/Minoans in the Eastern Mediterranean heralded the rise of the Greeks.
One of the most famous battles of the period was the clash between Ramses II of Egypt and the Hittites at the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BCE.
